Three Nights at Roskhill House

For the 2027 season we are introducing a three-night minimum stay requirement for all visitors joining us from 1st May to 30th September.

Those coming in March, April and October can stay for just two nights (but we'd really encourage you to stay longer).

Why?

1. Skye is hugely popular (and rightly so), but during the peak summer months the most famous spots are often congested and at risk of damage and erosion. We would definitely encourage you to visit these places, but genuinely believe that there are equally magical spots elsewhere (including near to us) that are worth your time. Staying for three nights will give you two full days to explore and take some pressure off the "hot spots" too
   
   
2. We are a big island (rural not remote). It often takes a day to drive to Skye and we too often welcome weary travellers who have struggled to navigate the Highland roads or master the ferry schedules to make their way to Roskhill. A three night stay enables you to rest properly and have a more relaxed first day on Skye (definitely no unnecessary early starts to catch sunrise at The Old Man of Storr!)
   
   
3. The environmental impact of long distance travel is significant, and we're doing our best to minimise the impact. Longer stays should mean fewer people and cars on the island
   
   
4. Having more than one day to explore means you can actually get out the car and perhaps join a group tour, go foraging, go to a ceilidh or gig, take a cookery or Gaelic language class, get on a boat, plunge into a Loch after a sauna, or jump on our e-bikes to experience an alternative Skye
   
   
5. The weather on Skye is "changeable", "unpredictable", "awful", and on occasion, "perfect". Extra time on the Island gives you the ability to flex your itinerary dependent on weather conditions - and takes away the obligation to endure a wind-battered hike just because you have too strict time constraints
   
   
6. We've frozen our prices for 2027, and can do so by the saving some running costs linked to extending stays with us. We also hope that by introducing three night stays, we'll be fresher for longer and can guarantee a genuine and warm Highland welcome to you all summer long
   
   
7. Our beds are comfortable, the breakfast is great and the whisky and the wine in our snug are too. Why leave so soon?
   
   
8. Finally, 2027 will be our 5th season on Skye. We have had such a wonderful time welcoming guests from all around the world - but know that those who really have the best time, those who really get a chance to experience Skye, are those who have been able to stay a wee bit longer. We hope you can too!
